Employment History

Sep 2011 – present Freelance consulting arborist, specialist arboricultural contracting projects and aerial rigging work for film production companies.
Consulting projects include hazard tree assessment for Department of Conservation and private individuals, scheduled tree management for Auckland Council, management of works around heritage trees at prominent Auckland landmark sites, provision of detailed arboricultural input for the successful tender for the Puhoi to Warkworth motorway upgrade, dispute resolution services involving tree-related problems and dealing with politically and technically sensitive trees with regard to ongoing management recommendations.
2007 – Aug 2011 arbSolutions Ltd – Consultant Arborist; this role involved direct arboricultural involvement with the Manukau Harbour Crossing extension project, SH20 extension, Queen Street upgrade works, Aotea Square redevelopment, St. Patricks Square upgrade and Elliot Street upgrade amongst many other tree-related projects.
2004 – 2007 Environmental Services Arborist, North Shore City Council. Processing resource consents and advising on tree-related matters to both Council departments and the general public
2003 – 2004 Tree Officer North Dorset District Council, England. Administration of tree protection system and advisory role to Council officers and general public.
2000 – 2006 BBC Natural History Unit – short contracts installing rope access and rigging systems in trees for film crews, including overall responsibility for health and safety whilst working above ground.
1984 – 2004 Contract tree climber in UK and abroad (France, Germany, Australia, NZ and USA).
